What comes into your mind when people talk about Penang? Absolutely, it would be FOOD! As many people may know, Penang is world famous for its abundance of hawker food and it's a lot cheaper if compared to in KL.
Few weeks ago, one of my colleagues suggested to go somewhere else for short vacation. I was so excited and started looking for places we could go for 2D1N. Quickly, we booked a family room for 4pax in Chulia Heritage Hotel (Penang). And then, our trip story began...
We drove up to North from KL in one car with four of us. A 2 days & 1 night trip couldn't get better than this -- food craving all the day in Ipoh & Penang. Of course without our great food navigator our plan wouldn't be as so successful.
We never get lost although we are not familiar with those places in Ipoh & Penang.

Ming Court Dim Sum Restaurant @ Ipoh
If you ask any Ipoh-an of where to have good and affordable dim sum, they'll most probably recommend you this place. This fully air-conditioned shop takes up two shop lots and is crowded every morning. The price range is in between RM2.50 - 3.50. The location of this place is a little off in Google Maps but it's relatively easy to find if you know where Foh San is. Foh San is another dim sum restaurant, much more expensive and quite honestly, not really worth the money.
Deep Fried Yam Puff with Minced Pork. One of my favourite type of dim sum ever!
Crispy Spring Rolls
This Muaji is best recommended by the waitresses.
Hong Kong Style Steamed Spare Ribs
This shrimp tail is a give away on this dim sum dish.
This is a must-order dish! Siu Mai (pork dumpling)!

Funny Mountain Tau Fu Fa @ Ipoh
It's hard to miss this small corner shop with the big sign board and the long lines of car lining up by the road side waiting to be serves with the famous tau fu fa and soya bean. Of course, you always have the choice of parking your car at one of the parking spaces and walk yourself to the shop, which is what we did and I assure you, it is much faster. I tried and realized that this tau fu fa is extremely smooth but a little too sweet for me. Go and try it for yourself!

Lighthouse Coffee Bar @ Penang
The Lighthouse Coffee Bar serves mainly beverages made from a variety of gourmet beans and in a myriad of styles. They also have quite an expensive food menu e.g. pasta, baked rice, all day breakfast, soup & salad. Something about coffee with pasta appealed us so we ordered the spaghetti which was their house recipe pasta with coffee. Unexpectedly, the food and beverage there are very delectable!

James Foo & Family Restaurant @ Penang
According to my colleague's friend, this restaurant is very famous for local people. Here's the place which always crowded especially weekend. We had to queue for seat but luckily, the food was very scrumptious and it's one of the most cheapest western food i have ever tried! When i saw the beverage menu, i was like 'wow, so cheap'. Tell you what, the lime juice is only RM1.80! Where on earth you could find such low price beverage in a well looking restaurant?
